Marine birds are intrinsically linked to trophic resources and tend to concentrate in areas of high productivity, which depend on various physical and biological factors, such as the surface temperature, salinity, currents, upwelling regions, topography and bathymetry, primary production and food availability (fish). To better characterize the study area and define the areas most favourable for concentrations of marine birds, the following parameters are analysed:
Results: The production of a GIS with bathymetric data, navigation maps, general ocean circulation, submarine topography, Portuguese EEZ, maritime routes, coastal limits, condition of the fishery in Portugal. |
